Those of you who follow this blog and are interested in joining our Lacan reading group in Berlin are welcome to do so starting next week.
This year we will read Lacan’s commentary on Hamlet in his Seminar VI: Desire and Its Interpretation.
Lacan had once said that the story of Hamlet was a modern rendition of the Oedipus myth. In his seminar on desire and its interpretation he goes to great length to explicate its importance for psychoanalysts today. In our reading seminar we will follow Lacan’s reading of Hamlet. We will learn about the psychology of the characters in the play but mostly will concern ourselves with the implications that such play has on Lacan’s psychoanalysis.
We will meet in-person at the Biografische Bibliothek on Ricahrdstr. 104, 12043, Neukölln in Berlin. We meet fortnightly on Fridays at 19h. Our first session will take place on the 17th of March.
If you wish to join the group, please enter your name and email in the following form.
* I kindly request a donation of 5€ per-session to cover logistical expenses and the rental of the space.
** Sadly, this year we will not have online participation.
My best,
Leon Brenner
